The winner of The X Factor USA will follow in the footsteps of numerous pop icons by landing a spot in their very own Pepsi advert during next year’s Super Bowl.
Previous stars to feature in adverts for Pepsi – The X Factor’s official sponsor – include Michael Jackson, Madonna and Justin Timberlake.
The last Super Bowl was the most-watched television show in US history with an average of 111 million people tuning in.
Frank Cooper, Chief Consumer Engagement Officer at Pepsi, said: “For decades, Pepsi has put musical talent in its commercials on T.V.’s biggest stage – the Super Bowl.
“Pepsi has a long history of being the curator, creator and catalyst of exciting, new music; and The X Factor partnership is a great way for us to continue to bring fresh musical talent to new generations.”
The show’s eventual winner will also receive $5milion and a recording contract.
The X Factor premieres on Fox on Wednesday, September 21, and a schedule for the season was released last week. Super Bowl XLVI will air on NBC in February 2012.
