The X Factor has become the first television show to offer voting via Twitter.
The move means Verozin, the show’s official voting sponsor, now gives fans five ways to vote.
The list includes via phone, text messaging for Verizon wireless customers, The Xtra Factor app on Verizon android devices, online at the official site, and now online via social networking site Twitter.
The system works by fans signing up at http://twitter.thexfactorusa.com/ and casting their vote by direct message to @TheXFactorUSA.
Direct messages are hidden from the public, and Tweets will not count towards the vote.
X Factor boss Simon Cowell said: “I think it’s fantastic that Verizon and The X Factor are giving fans so many different ways to vote. Launching touch screen voting on Verizon’s App and the new voting on Twitter is really exciting. I love that the audience has more and more choice.”
Viewers will get their first chance to vote on the second live show on November 2, after the first show featured a twist where the judges chose to send 5 acts home.
Do you think Twitter will make voting for The X Factor easier?
Keep it central!

We love the Xfactor here in Canada, congratulation Simon.
The last 2 shows Josh is not too happy about his choice of songs, I agree. Josh as the capabilities to choose his own song and even to do his own musical arrangement, why don’t they let him do that ? It’s looks to my that this show is all pre-arrange to favor the one they want to win at the end I hope not !
I watch the show every Saturday & Sunday evening here in Botswana Southern Africa. We love it to bits! Even my 2 year old behaves during show time!!
