In a huge shake up, X Fator producers are reportedly plotting for the judges to switch categories mid-series.
The Sun claims the news could be confirmed next week, but hasn’t yet been discussed with the judges.
Currently, Gary Barlow mentors the Boys, Tulisa the Groups, Kelly Rowland the Girls and Louis Walsh the Overs.
Producers apparently thought up the idea after holding talks to ensure the singing contest is not beaten by BBC 1′s Strictly Come Dancing again like last weekend.
A source said: “This move will really put the cat among the pigeons as it’s the last thing the judges will expect. It will be a major test for them as they’ve become too comfortable with their own acts. Producers reckon tearing up the format is just the shot in the arm the show needs.”
The 9 remaining finalists perform Club classics tonight at 8PM ahead of tomorrow’s double elimination.
Would you welcome a category-swapping twist, or is it a bad idea?
Keep it central!

That sounds good but i say it needs o work 100% or it will fail 100%
Agreed – I could see it working, but it could also go terribly wrong… and some would argue if the show is meant to be about the acts the producers wouldn’t mess with things.
it seems like a cool idea but i was trying to work out who who have who? I suppose gary cud have the groups, kelly cud have the boys and tulisa cud had the girls? but that leaves louis with the same and i wouldn’t know were to put the overs category? And i’m not sure about tulisa with the girls? it all depends i suppose. keep it as it is and do something else to get more viewers. And does it really matter if strictly has a few more people watching? I mean, come on, they’re getting obsessive!
a total
factor obsessor!
if any of the producers r reading this, listen up. DONT change the categories!
A stupid idea and designed to just grab media headlines and revive the show’s ratings. The contestants have been mentored by their current judges for many weeks now and that bonding process is precious. Switching judges at this critical stage could prove destabling for some of the contestants and disruptive behind the scenes. A terrible business decision in my opinion if this does go ahead.
Grow up X Factor producers. This is a singing competition not a talent contest for the judges to showcase their egos!
ya think it is a good idea, but feel sorry for the judge thar gets frankie, he can’t sing, can’t dance no talent at all and certainly as no xfactor at all and to put it another way until he leaves the competition me and my family are out, and will not be watching.
