X Factor hit by early scandals

Three contestants who featured on the first episode of the new series have already had questions raised over their appearances on the show.

Last year The X Factor came under fire for the use of auto-tune and vote-fixing claims, and fresh scandals have already started just one show into series 8.

Roxy Yarnold was seen to get a yes from all four judges after her perforamnce of ‘Georgia On My Mind’, but The Mirror reports that the 19-year-old has worked with Simon Cowell’s record label Syco in the past.

In 2007, the singer toured with Westlife, Shayne Ward and G4, plus speaking in an interview, Louis Walsh described her as “young, pretty and talented with a bright future”.

A show insider told the tabloid: “She’s portrayed as a struggling pizza waitress but in actual fact she’s been singing alongside the crop of Syco talent since an early age.”

An X Factor spokesperson has hit back at the claims though, commenting: “Throughout the history of X Factor, there has been auditionees who have been involved with the music industry before.”

“Roxy was touring at the age of 14 but has been out of the industry since then. She was eligible to enter as she has no record or management deal in place. She auditioned off her own accord and went through the same process as everyone else and was never invited to audition by production, or contacted by Syco,” they insisted.

Kitty Brucknell (pictured) also appeared on Saturday night’s show. She too got four yes’, but the judges had concerns over her “quirky personality”.

The 26-year-old was reportedly encouraged by producers to audition after seeing online videos of her singing. It has also been claimed by The Sun that Brucknell previosuly worked as a ‘honeytrap’ girl for a private investigation agency, to help woman uncover their cheating husbands.

Thirdly, George Gerasimou has blamed bad editing for making his X Factor audition appear worse than it actually was. He failed to please the judges with his performance, and unimpressed with their criticism, the 19-year-old called Tulisa a “scumbag trying to be like Chery Cole”.

George also claims that producers and backstage staff purposely wound him up, as they knew his reaction would make for good television viewing.

The X Factor returned on Saturday to a peak audience of 12.6 million. You can view our recap of the show here.

How can George say that, after we’ve seen what he said and done. I don’t see how they could have ‘made it worse than it actually was’ when you could tell from the start, he was still unapproachable, shifty and still a crap singer even after 2 YEARS. There was nothing wrong with their comments, he just couldn’t handle their criticism.

If they knew how to make him tick, then he obviously hadn’t changed like he previously said. Which leads to believe he is just trying to ‘clear his name’ and once again failing.

    It’s pathetic.

He needs to grow up, I’m 19 years old and i don’t act like a bell for no reason.
