Two X Factor hopefuls were admitted to hospital during filming for the judges’ houses, reports suggest.
According to The Sun, one act, hoping to be picked by Louis to perform in the live shows, had an allergic reaction after eating mussels
A source said: “The acts went to have traditional Spanish tapas on the first day, and one of the contestants ordered mussels as he felt like trying something new.
“Seconds after eating it his lips massively swelled up and his face went bright red. It was really frightening as he had no idea what was going on – he thought he’d been poisoned. It was really, really scary.
“It turned out that he was allergic to mussels and just didn’t know about it. He was given an injection and fortunately it didn’t disrupt his performance the day after.”
The paper has also reported an act having an allergic reaction to mosquito bites, and names the unlucky contestant as Kitty Brucknell.
The “embarrassed but upset” singer had six bites for which she received an anti-inflammatory injection.
“Kitty was really freaked out by it,” a source said. “She got a series of bites all over one of her legs which made it swell up to the size of a melon. She was really worried about it. A doctor gave her an injection in her bottom in order to bring the swelling down.”
The X Factor auditions continue Saturday at 8.15pm on ITV1.
