Series 8 of The X Factor could have longer live shows and even more of them, in order to bring in more money for ITV, according to a report.
The Mirror claims shows could reach three hours, a move which will maximise profits for The X Factor and its broadcaster. A source said: “The feeling is that the audience can’t get enough of the show and extending the programmes again seems the natural next step.”
“The idea is simple,” the insider continued. “More X Factor will mean more viewers, more advertising space, more telephone votes and, ultimately, more revenue. The final details are being ironed out but there will definitely be more X Factor on screen this year than it has ever been seen before. There will be longer shows and, hopefully, more of them.”
It has also been claimed that Simon Cowell has decided he will feature on the UK series via a video link from America.
A source told The People: “Originally he wanted to leave the UK show and just be behind the scenes but now he has changed his mind and wants to appear live and give the contestants his verdicts.
“His US schedule is so busy though that flying over regularly is impossible so he has opted for the transatlantic link. He is hoping he can have the best of both worlds. He wants to be a dominant part of the finals.”
Last year the live shows reached two-and-a-half hours. Is that long enough or would you welcome a move to extend these to three hours?
Keep it central!
