X Factor contestant Jade Richards has revealed how she sang two songs at her audition after Louis requested a second.
The 21-year-old featured in last Saurday’s show, and made it through to Bootcamp after receiving four yes’s from the judges for her rendition of Adele’s ‘Someone Like You’.
The emotional performance reduced Kelly Rowland and Louis Walsh to tears, and the Irish judge told the singer she had a “God-given talent”.
Jade has since told The Metro: “I knew everybody had been singing Adele songs all day so my first song wasn’t an Adele song.
“I sang an Etta James song to begin with and it was Louis who asked if I could sing an Adele song. I said I didn’t want to because everybody else had been but he asked me so I couldn’t exactly say no.”
“Adele is amazing. She seems like just a normal girl. She has one of the best voices in today’s music industry. I guess I would put myself with her and Amy Winehouse,” she added.
There have also been reports that describe Jade as a “boozy wild child”.
A friend told The Mirror: “Jade turned into a goth when she was about 13 and was really quiet at school, but when she started singing in the pubs a few years ago she really came out of her shell and turned into a right wild child.
“She’s great fun and loves a night out. She’s just like one of the guys when it comes to boozing. She looks fabulous now, it’s just not the Jade we recognise – but she’s obviously making a real effort at pop stardom now and cleaning up her image.”
