X Factor 2010 winner Matt Cardle has entered the UK singles chart in sixth with his debut single ‘Run For Your Life’.
Matt performed the track, written by new judge Gary Barlow, on last week’s results show, and this evening it has been announced that the song has entered at number 6 in the official chart.
Speaking on Radio 1, Matt described it as an ideal debut single to bridge the gap between The X Factor and his new material, but said it was different from the rest of his new album.
His winners song ‘When We Collide’ spent three weeks at number 1 off the back of winning the show last year.
To date, the only X Factor winners to have reached the top spot with their debut single (not including winners songs) are Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke. The result also means Matt matches 2009 winner Joe McElderry who also reached number 6.
His debut album ‘Letters’ is released tomorrow.
Keep it central!
