ITV have announced that this year’s X Factor live shows will see the reintroduction of text voting for the public to support their favourite acts.
The talent contest last used text voting in 2007, but the method returns this weekend at the cost of 35p per text. The system will be used alongside phone votes and voting via the red button.
Ann Cook from ITV Interactive said: “Texting is a hugely popular way of interacting for ITV’s viewers and I am therefore delighted that we are reintroducing text voting into The X Factor this weekend.
“ITV and all the partners involved in the show have worked alongside the mobile network operators over the last 12 months to ensure that we have full confidence in returning this platform, which will enable more consumers to vote on the UK’s most popular entertainment show.”
During the 2010 series, almost 15.5 million votes were made, generating over £5 million in revenue.
Will you be taking advantage of text voting this weekend as the 12 remaining finalists battle it out in ‘Love and heartache’ week?
Keep it central!
