Janet Devlin will go ahead with her performance on The X Factor this weekend dispite the news of her grandfather’s sudden passing away this week.
Janet’s grandfather was in London on Sunday to see the 16-year-old progress through to week 2 of the live shows, but passed away back in Northern Ireland on Wednesday.
After hearing the news from her mum over the phone, Janet has decided to remain in England to continue with the show, as despite missing her grandfather’s funeral, it’s “what he would have wanted”.
Janet’s mum Patricia told the Irish Daily Mirror: “It’s tough because Michael was here on Sunday night watching the results show and he was so proud.
“Of course Janet was very shocked, but I have been assured she is being looked after and it’s best she stays in London. Producers said she could fly straight home but Michael wouldn’t have wanted that, he was her biggest fan and he was backing her every step of the way.”
The X Factor returns tonight at 7:45PM for ‘Love and heartbreak’ week – a fitting theme for Janet to pay tribute to her grandfather.
Keep it central!

I bet her performance tonight will be really strong. Such a shame to hear, and I hope the X Factor well-being team are their for her. She to me is easily the winner.
I wonder if any of the contestanst will be singing Adele’s hit “someone like you”…it would be perfect for the theme I guess
