The new series of the X Factor will have its own iPhone app that includes a ‘Tap to Clap’ feature for fans to support their favourite acts.
X Factor producer Talkback Thames has teamed up with Rimmel London to create the app which is currently exclusive to Apple’s iPhone, but it is not known whethe it will become available on other smartphones.
Fans who have the app will have access to news and highlights from the talent contest, as well as the ‘Tap to Clap’ feature for interaction throughout the shows.
Users will be able to ‘clap’ during performances, in response to the judges and to show support for guest singers.
The official X Factor website has also been revamped. Robert Marsh of Talkback Thames said: “We’re really proud of the digital offering for 2011. Every year we’re adopting new and innovative ways to engage fans and give them added entertainment value beyond the TV screen.
“We’re confident they will enjoy the additional content, the new website and the fantastic new iPhone App and ‘Tap to Clap’ play-along.”
