Live show ‘big twist’ revealed

Viewers were promised a ‘big twist’ for the live shows last week, and following a lot of specualtion, details of the twist have been confirmed.

This weekend, there will be no public vote.

Instead, each of the four judges will have to eliminate one of their four acts based on Saturday’s performances, meaning only 12 of the 16 finalists will make it to week 2 of the live shows.

Informing the acts of the twist on Thursday, Louis Walsh said: “It’s a level playing field – we want to see your passion, we want to see a star, it’s all to play for.”

Tulisa added: “Please understand all of you that none of us have made our decision. It’s a clean slate and we are making our decision as if we have never seen you before.”

The public vote will then be able to vote for their favourite acts from week 2.

It has also been confirmed that week 1′s theme is ‘UK vs US’, and Matt Cardle and Cee Lo Green will be performing live on the show.

The X Factor continues Saturday night at 7:30PM on ITV1.

A good twist  when there were 16 finalists previously I didn’t like them having to squeeze in all those performances each week and having double eliminations.

I not sure I’d agree. It’s taking away the whole point of the voting and giving the public less of a say about who should stay or go. :worried:

  3. live shows are supposed to invole the viewers and take it out of the judges hands. pointless twist if u ask me

At least we have new musical guests this series (so far at least). Last year so many were do over and the finals even have do overs from earlier in the season.

We haven’t heard anything about a new studio, but I have seen the possibility of new opening titles mentioned – not sure if this has been confirmed or not though…

What a fix yet again. This show is not a talent contest as the winner has already been decided by the producers and the public are manipulated into believing that they choose the winner when that is not the case at all. Already, 2 of the best acts Jade and Amelia have been gotten rid of before the public even pick up their phones! They will ensure that the rest are removed one by one by giving them really crappy songs so that the public do not vote for them. The end result being that Janet Delvin will win. This is a totally manufactured show which cons both the viewers and the talented people who apply. A good show should consist of the 16 most talented acts going through, regardless of whether they are a group, or male or female etc – just the best 16 acts. Furthermore, it should not be about the judges. Also why is the show all about the judges? Who cares who the judges are anyway? Anyone unless they are tone deaf knows whether someone is good or not so why have celebrity judges? They are so filled with their own self-importance that they distract from the acts. This show is now just a joke, and makes a mockery of true talent. Simon Cowell should hang his head in shame.
