ITV has confirmed that X Factor hopeful Goldie Cheung has left the show, a decision which is thought to be down to her perception as a ‘joke act’.
On Sunday night, viewers saw Goldie progress from Bootcamp to the Judges’ houses stage.
It is currently unknown whether Louis Walsh chose her as one of his acts to mentor in the live shows, but a replacement will be draughted in before they begin in just under two weeks.
“I have decided to withdraw from the competition because I knew I would miss my family so much,” Goldie said, but it is thought the real reason is that she feared being this year’s ‘joke act’.
“I wish all the finalists the best of luck and look forward to watching them every week. The X Factor has been a fantastic experience and very challenging for me at times. I was very grateful to Louis for offering me a place in the final, however,” she added.
Louis commented: “It was such a shame Goldie had to pull out of the competition, I thought she had great potential to entertain viewers in the live shows.
“But it has given someone else an amazing opportunity and although it was a hard decision of who to replace her with, I am pleased with my choice.
Who could Louis have picked to replace Goldie? Are you sad to see her leave? Share you thoughts below!
Keep it central!

And my happiness is complete…..
It has seen the end of Kendro, soon after it sees the end of Goldie.
Truely, the force is strong with this one…
Really really sad to see her go if it’s true. She is an absolutely wonderful breath of fresh air.
Awk gonna miss we goldie the reasin he quit was because she don’t wana ve this years wagner……
Kelly had by far the easiest task where everyone was good. I’m not sure I agree with all the choices, but it still looks the best section by far.
Quite what happened to the boys in the house I really don’t know. This year was probably the first I actually thought they had a proper chance with real talent. Gary’s choice are ok I suppose given the unfolded disaster.
Groups are always a problem, but this nonsense takes it to whole new level. Is there even one actual group that got through?
Louie should be ashamed for even selecting Goldie for bootcamp, let alone what has transpired since. Maybe it should have been a completely new panel this year afterall. I am happy he did at least let Johnny through.
Yes I was wondering myself what happened to all the groups, there appeared a severe lack of them that actually applied to the show. Suprising when you think of the success of JLS.
The problem with groups in this country is that its little more than a cattle call put out by people like Louie and Simon. They cherry pick from large numbers and choose based on a preselected type/style. Self form groups usually revolve around an individual or a few friends and the talent range is unfortunately quite “diverse”.
A look over at the american XF really highlights the disparity and the amount of time these groups put in before ever turning up at auditions.
i am so sad
to read this, she is an example for people who believe not being able to do things right, I would have liked to see more of goldie. jr from Dominican Republic
Putting Goldie through was all about Louie pushing another Jedward and exploiting the odd for money. Goldie quiting was all about her getting her self respect and dignity back.
I’m happy she quit on her own terms, but she should never have been picked in the first place. This is suppose to be a singing competition and that was not something she was good at.
Johnny, too is an oddball, but Johnny can sing and actually deserves his place in the competition. He’s unlikely to ever win, but that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t have a few more weeks in the limelight.
